Esmoriz is a hidden beach town located on the northern coast between Aveiro and Porto. This gem offers a chance to relax on the beach as well as good waves for both the novice and experienced surfer. You can also relax in the nearby Parque do Buçaquinho, a 50-acre park that is sprawling with lush forests and ponds. Here you'll find an environmental education center, a cafe powered by renewable energy, and plenty of bike paths.
You're only 20 minutes to Porto, which is a must-see city. It's Portugal's second largest city and is famous for being the home of port wine. You'll find this sweet wine aging in the many cellars that line the banks of the Douro River. It's one of the oldest wine-producing regions in the world, and that's why UNESCO has recognized it as a world heritage site.
